Senator Fedor Introduces Resolution Recognizing January 11^th as Human Trafficking Awareness Day in Ohio and Announces Awareness Day Event at the Statehouse

Columbus, OH – Continuing her commitment to eradicate Human Trafficking through legislation and awareness, State Senator Teresa Fedor introduced a resolution recognizing January 11^th as National Human Trafficking Day in Ohio . Senate Resolution 133 was announced in conjunction with an Awareness Day Forum on Human Trafficking at the Statehouse on January 11, 2010. The Statehouse event will take place from 9:00 to 11:30 A.M. and will feature panelists and a keynote address from various experts tackling the problem of human trafficking.

“Human Trafficking is a very real problem in Ohio . Ohioans must stop and take notice of the atrocities being committed against children in our State. My hope is that by strengthening criminal penalties through legislation and by bringing together anti-trafficking groups and experts, we can begin to eradicate this horrible form of modern-day slavery,” said Senator Fedor .

S.R. 133 resolves in part, “To combat human trafficking in Ohio and globally, the people of Ohio, the General Assembly, and local governments must be aware of the realities of human trafficking and must be dedicated to stopping this contemporary manifestation of slavery.”
